What is COPD?

COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) refers to the inflammation of the airways of the respiratory tract that brings air to the lungs (chronic bronchitis) and emphysema. It is common for these two diseases to exist together causing the airways to become narrow.
COPD is also commonly referred to as COLD (Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease), COAD (Chronic Obstructive Airway Disease), CAL (Chronic Airflow Limitation) and CORD (Chronic Obstructive Respiratory Disease).
